Small Business Week Showdown
In April, the Grandview Chamber of Commerce announced its Small Business Week Showdown Campaign. For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. To celebrate, the Grandview Chamber decided to host a virtual Small Business Showdown to find out what businesses the community loves.
The public could nominate any local Small Business to enter the Showdown, taking place during Small Business Week, April 30 - May 6, 2023. Over 40 businesses were nominated within the 10-day span.
Businesses nominated included Chamber members such as About You Nutrition, Acosta Chiropractic, Crews Jewelry, Encore Coffee Company, Faulkner’s Ranch, FavTrip Grandview, Hughes Walker Group, Karen’s Kakes, Kelly Construction Group, Kona Ice of Western Jackson County, Neal Settle Printing, Providence Pizza, RC’s Restaurant, ReLeaf Resources, RT’s Awards, Shawn Lee House Photography, Spirit of Health, Teague Construction, The Chive Cafe, and Wingz & More.
Other businesses nominated include Authentic Talk, Compestre Mexican Restaurant, El Alteno Mexican Restaurant, Faces You Love Photography, Heartland Sales & Promo LLC, Housewife Cafe, IBEC, LLC DBA Barnhart Security, Johnson Family Lawn Care, Kat’s Kakery, La Dos Tres, Mateo’s Taxes, Morgan Miller Plumbing, New Hope Home Care, Salon 3330 Studio, Simply Grand Kitchen & Creamery, Spear Power Systems, The Stache Mens Haircuts & More, The Walking Taco, and Transparent Brewing Company.
The Grandview Chamber even gained a new member during this campaign! Little Willows Daycare was also nominated and joined the Chamber during Small Business Week.
Voting opened on Sunday, April 30th, and closed Sunday, May 7th. Nearly 800 votes were submitted over the course of Small Business Week, and the top three businesses with the most votes are… drumroll please…
3rd Place: Encore Coffee Company
Encore Coffee Company is Kansas City’s only coffee and cacao roaster... Located right here in Grandview!

1st Place: Kat’s Kakery
